Um 7 Uhr
ging der Wecker, denn um 8:30 Uhr hatten wir einen 45-minütigen Helikopterflug
um die Insel gebucht! Leider war es ziemlich bewölkt, wir machten uns trotzdem
bereit und gingen kurz darauf frühstücken...
The alarm clock woke us up at 7 am as we had booked a 45 minutes
helicopter flight around the island at 8:30 this morning! Unfortunately it was
quite overcast, nevertheless we got ready and went for breakfast shortly
after...

Um 8 Uhr trafen wir bei Corail Hélicoptères ein und eine halbe Stunde später hoben wir ab. Es war noch stets bewölkt aber je höher wir in die Berge stiegen desto klarer wurde es und wir sahen das Nebelmeer von oben! Zuerst flogen wir über die Talkessel von Mafate und Salazie mit dem 3071 m hohen Piton des Neiges, dann hinein in den Trou de Fer mit seinen Wasserfällen, danach überquerten wir die Mondlandschaft des aktiven Vulkans Piton de la Fournaise (2631 m) und zurück ging es über den Talkessel Cilaos und die Lagune (vom Riff getrennter seichter Teil des Ozeans) - das war ein wirklich fantastischer Überblick über La Réunion!
Zurück im Hotel packten wir unsere Badetasche um am Strand zu relaxen. Da es aber noch immer angenehm bewölkt war, joggte ich zuerst den langen Sandstrand entlang und ging als Abschluss im herrlich warmen, seichten Meer (Lagune) schwimmen. Danach holte ich den verpassten Schlaf am Strand dösend nach... Wie gut, dass die Sonne nicht auf uns herunterbrannte - so war es die ideale Wohltat!
At 8 am we arrived at Corail Hélicoptères and half an hour later we took off. It was still cloudy but the more we rose into the mountains the clearer it got and we could watch the sea of fog from above! First we flew over the hollows of Mafate and Salazie with Piton des Neiges of 3071 m, then we flew into the Trou de Fer with its waterfalls, thereafter we crossed the lunar landscape of the active volcano Piton de la Fournaise (2631 m) and back we went over the hollow of Cilaos and the lagoon (shallow part of the ocean separated by the riff) -this was a real fantastic overview of La Réunion!
When we got back to the hotel we packed our beach stuff and went to the beach to relax. As it was still overcast and not too hot I first went for a run along the long sandy beach and thereafter for a nice swim in the warm and shallow water (lagoon). Now it was time for me to relax and I cached up with sleep snoozing at the beach... Only too well that the sun didn't beat down on us -like that it was the ideal treat!

Als wir von Strand zurückkamen, genossen wir zuerst einmal den Jacuzzi und machten uns danach für den Ausgang bereit. Um 17 Uhr los nach Boucan Canon, wo wir etwas in den Boutiquen herum flanierten, ein herrliches Eis assen, den wunderschönen Sonnenuntergang betrachteten und uns einen Aperitif genehmigten (Liliane & Beni: Ich dachte ganz fest an euch dort!). Zum Abendessen fuhren wir nach St Gilles-les-Bains ins gleichnamige Restaurant, wo wir einen Lobster in absolut hervorragendem Ambiente verspeisten.

Coming back from the beach we first enjoyed the Jacuzzi and then got ready for the evening. At 5 pm we hit the road to Boucan Canon where we shopped around a bit, had a very nice ice-cream, watched a gorgeous sunset and had a drink. For dinner we drove to St Gilles-les-Bains to the identically named restaurant where we enjoyed a delicious lobster in an absolutely great ambiance.
